Vape Product FAQs

Disposable Vapes

Q: What are disposable vapes?

Disposable vapes are pre-filled vaping devices designed to be replaced once the e-liquid has been depleted or the device has reached the end of its usable life.

Many modern disposable vapes include rechargeable batteries so users can recharge the battery and use the remaining pre-filled e-liquid. However, rechargeable disposable vapes are generally not designed to be refilled.

Browse Disposable Vapes at Vape X.

Q: What are the main features of disposable vapes?

Features vary by product, but many disposable devices offer:

Pre-Filled Design: E-liquid is already contained inside the device.

Simple Operation: Many models are draw-activated and require little setup.

Portable Design: Disposable devices are generally compact and easy to carry.

Rechargeable Options: Many higher-capacity models now include USB-C charging.

Device Displays: Some models include battery indicators, e-liquid indicators, airflow controls, or multiple power modes.

Always review the individual product specifications before purchasing.

Q: Can you refill a disposable vape?

Most disposable vapes are not designed to be refilled.

Opening or attempting to refill a sealed disposable device may cause leaking, damage, or other safety problems.

If you prefer a refillable device, consider an open pod system designed for use with bottled e-liquid.

Q: Can disposable vapes be recharged?

Some can and some cannot.

If your disposable vape has a manufacturer-provided charging port, such as USB-C, it may be rechargeable.

Follow the manufacturer's charging instructions and use an appropriate charging cable and power source.

Never attempt to recharge a device that is not designed to be rechargeable.

Q: What types of disposable vapes are available?

Disposable vape designs vary widely. Common categories include:

Standard Disposable Vapes – Simple pre-filled devices designed for convenience.

High-Capacity Disposable Vapes – Larger devices designed to provide extended use.

Rechargeable Disposable Vapes – Include a charging port so the battery can be recharged while e-liquid remains.

Nicotine-Free Disposable Vapes – Contain 0 mg/mL nicotine.

Smart Disposable Vapes – May include digital displays, airflow adjustment, power modes, or e-liquid and battery indicators.

Product features and advertised puff counts vary significantly by device and usage conditions.

Q: How do I know when a disposable vape is empty?

Common signs include:

Reduced or No Vapour: Vapour production becomes significantly weaker or stops.

Weak or Burnt Flavour: A dry or burnt taste may indicate insufficient e-liquid.

E-Liquid Indicator: Some newer devices display the approximate remaining liquid level.

Rechargeable Device Stops Producing Vapour: If the battery is charged but the device no longer produces vapour, the e-liquid may be depleted.

Product behaviour varies, so always check the manufacturer's instructions.

Q: How should I dispose of a disposable vape?

Disposable vapes contain batteries and electronic components and should be handled according to local battery and electronic-waste requirements.

Do not open or dismantle a sealed device unless the manufacturer specifically instructs you to do so.

Check your municipality's battery or electronic-waste recycling program for appropriate disposal options.

Q: Are disposable vapes safe?

Vaping is not risk-free.

Many vaping products contain nicotine, which is addictive. Vaping can also expose users to chemicals and other substances that may affect health.

For adults who currently smoke cigarettes, completely switching from smoking to vaping may reduce exposure to many harmful substances associated with combustible tobacco. However, people who do not currently smoke or vape should not start.

Always use vaping products according to the manufacturer's instructions and keep them away from children and pets.

Pod Systems

Q: What is a pod system vape?

A pod system is a rechargeable vaping device that uses replaceable pods or cartridges rather than a traditional vape tank.

There are two main types:

Closed Pod Systems: Use sealed, pre-filled pods.

Open Pod Systems: Use refillable pods that can be filled with compatible e-liquid.

Browse Pod Systems at Vape X.

Q: What is the difference between closed and open pod systems?

Closed Pod Systems

Closed systems use pre-filled pods manufactured for a specific device or product family.

They generally require less maintenance because users replace the entire pod when it is empty.

Open Pod Systems

Open systems use refillable pods.

Users can fill the pod with compatible e-liquid and may replace the pod or coil when performance decreases.

Always check device and pod compatibility before purchasing replacement products.

Q: Can you refill a closed pod?

Closed pods are generally not designed to be refilled.

Opening a sealed pod may damage the pod, affect performance, or cause leaking.

When a closed pod is empty, replace it with a compatible new pod.

Q: How long does a pod system last?

There is no single lifespan that applies to every pod system.

Device lifespan depends on battery condition, charging habits, construction, usage frequency, and maintenance.

Pod and coil lifespan also varies according to the specific product, e-liquid used, power settings, and individual vaping habits.

Signs that a pod or coil may need replacement include reduced flavour, reduced vapour, persistent leaking, or a burnt taste.

Q: Do pod systems last longer than disposable vapes?

The main difference is that pod system devices are designed to be reused.

With a pod system, the battery device can be recharged while the pod, cartridge, or coil is replaced as needed.

Disposable devices are replaced once the pre-filled e-liquid or usable life of the device has ended.

Which format is more suitable depends on device preference, maintenance requirements, and product compatibility.

Q: How do I know when a pod is empty?

Depending on the device, common signs include:

Visible Low E-Liquid Level: Transparent pods allow you to check the remaining liquid.

Reduced Flavour or Vapour: Performance may decrease as the pod becomes empty.

Dry or Burnt Taste: Stop using the device if the wick is no longer properly saturated.

Device Indicator: Some devices include an e-liquid level display or warning.

Refill an open pod when appropriate or replace an empty closed pod.

Q: How should I recharge a pod system?

Use the charging method recommended by the device manufacturer.

Most modern pod systems use USB-C, although charging specifications vary.

Avoid damaged cables, excessive heat, moisture, and charging methods that are not recommended for the device.

If the battery or device becomes unusually hot, damaged, swollen, or otherwise abnormal, stop using it.

Q: How should I dispose of a pod system?

Pod systems contain electronic components and rechargeable batteries.

When the device reaches the end of its usable life, check your municipality's electronic-waste or battery recycling guidelines.

Do not place damaged lithium-ion batteries in regular household garbage.

Pods and cartridges should also be disposed of according to applicable local requirements.

Q: Are pod systems safe?

Vaping products are not risk-free.

Nicotine-containing pods can cause dependence and addiction, and vaping aerosol may contain potentially harmful substances.

Adults who use pod systems should follow the manufacturer's instructions, use compatible products, charge devices correctly, and keep e-liquid and devices away from children and pets.

E-Liquids

Q: What are e-liquids?

E-liquids, also called vape juice, are liquids used in compatible vaping devices.

Typical ingredients may include:

Propylene Glycol (PG)
Vegetable Glycerin (VG)
Flavouring ingredients
Nicotine, when applicable

E-liquid formulations vary by product.

Browse E-Liquids at Vape X.

Q: What is the difference between nicotine salts and freebase nicotine?

Nicotine salts and freebase nicotine are two forms of nicotine commonly used in vaping liquids.

Nicotine Salts

Nicotine salt formulations are commonly used in lower-power pod systems and are often formulated to provide a smoother sensory experience.

Freebase Nicotine

Freebase nicotine is commonly used in traditional bottled e-liquids and is available in formulations intended for different vaping devices.

In Canada, vaping products manufactured or imported for sale cannot exceed 20 mg/mL nicotine.

Always use an e-liquid that is compatible with your device.

Q: What nicotine strength should I choose?

There is no single nicotine strength that is appropriate for everyone.

Nicotine requirements depend on factors such as previous nicotine use, device type, and personal preference.

In Canada, the maximum permitted nicotine concentration in vaping products is 20 mg/mL.

Always read the product label and avoid using more nicotine than intended. If you are using vaping products as part of an effort to stop smoking, consider speaking with a healthcare professional or smoking-cessation service about your options.

Q: What does PG/VG ratio mean?

PG and VG are the two main base liquids commonly used in e-liquid.

PG (Propylene Glycol) is thinner and generally produces a more noticeable throat sensation.

VG (Vegetable Glycerin) is thicker and generally produces denser vapour.

Common formulations include balanced blends as well as higher-PG or higher-VG liquids.

Manufacturers may list PG/VG ratios in different orders, so always check the product label before choosing an e-liquid.

High-VG liquids may not be suitable for every pod or coil, while thinner liquids may be better suited to some lower-power devices.

Q: Are e-liquids safe?

E-liquids and vaping are not risk-free.

Nicotine-containing e-liquids are addictive, and vaping aerosol can expose users to potentially harmful chemicals and substances.

Store e-liquid securely and keep it away from children and pets. Avoid contact with skin and eyes, and follow the safety information and instructions on the product packaging.

Purchase vaping products through legitimate Canadian retail channels and use them only with compatible devices.

Vape Hardware & Mods

Q: What is vape hardware?

Vape hardware refers to reusable vaping devices and components such as pod devices, vape kits, mods, tanks, coils, batteries, and related accessories.

More advanced hardware may offer features such as:

Adjustable Power: Allows compatible devices to operate at different wattage settings.

Replaceable Coils: Allows users to replace the heating element when necessary.

Replaceable or Rechargeable Batteries: Depending on the device design.

Airflow Adjustment: Allows users to adjust draw resistance.

Compatible Tanks and Pods: Certain devices support interchangeable components.

Always confirm compatibility before combining devices, batteries, tanks, pods, or coils.

Q: Who are vape mods designed for?

Advanced vape mods generally require more setup and maintenance than disposable vapes or simple pod systems.

They may appeal to experienced adult users who are familiar with device settings, coil compatibility, battery safety, and e-liquid selection.

Users unfamiliar with advanced hardware should follow the manufacturer's instructions carefully.

Q: Does vape hardware cost more?

Reusable vape hardware may have a higher upfront cost than some disposable products, but total long-term cost depends on the device, replacement coils or pods, e-liquid consumption, battery replacement, and individual usage.

Prices and ongoing costs vary considerably by brand and product type, so comparing the full cost of the system is more useful than comparing only the initial device price.
